The Deadpool star put a call out to his 16 million Twitter followers, offering the reward for the return of Soriano's custom-made teddy bear.

Mara Soriano says her knees buckled as a two Good Samaritans handed her a bag containing a brown teddy bear in a red-and-white dress and white jacket. However, when she gets married next year, Soriano says the bear will sit in a front row seat where her mother would have been. Canadian media personality George Stroumboulopoulos also offered a reward for the bear's return, while talk show host Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos pleaded for whoever had the keepsake to get it back to Soriano.

Three days later, the teddy bear was reunited with its owner.

"She's home", Soriano told the CBC late Tuesday at the rendezvous point.

Soriano's teddy bear, pictured before the theft, has an audio recording her mother made before she died of cancer in June 2019.

Mara Soriano and her fiancé were moving into a new apartment in the city's West End when a friend who was coming to help was struck by a auto.

The bag in which the teddy was kept also had other valuable items like an iPad, a book of blank cheques, her citizenship card, her and her fiance's passports and social insurance cards, etc. Even though it won't be the same bear her mom made it will still remind her of the time they had together.

According to the news website, the men who returned the toy said they saw CCTV footage of the area where the incident happened, recognised the thief and took the toy from him.

Soriano said she got an email around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night from someone who said they had the bear and wanted to return it to her.

"I just started sobbing and I grabbed her out of his hands and I couldn't let her go".

Mara and Mama Bear were reunited on Tuesday night, and while the stuffed animal's glasses are missing, she is otherwise in ideal condition.

Mara - who was born in the Philippines and moved to Toronto when she was nine - added: "It's a reminder of home".

"At hospice her voice was different". She lost her mother to cancer a year ago. 'The bear has a message in it in Filipino. Much softer. Not the mum I grew up with. "She said that she loved me and she was proud of me and that she'll always be with me".
