Confirmed: Google Pixel 4a smartphone launching on Aug 3rd

Pixel 4a Tease

Did Google just tell us that the Pixel 4a is coming on August 3?

It will be interesting to see if the Pixel 4a will be up for the challenge. But now it seems that Google is all set to launch its much-awaited Pixel 4a on August 3rd.

If you head over to Google Store's global page, there is a teaser where you click on various coloured boxes to reveal a message. Clicking the boxes changes their colors, and if you put the colors in the order they appear in the official Google logo (blue, red, yellow, blue, green, red), the boxes disappear and reveal the secret message and a huge date. There are also a bunch of random photography references all around the website like "lorem ipsum", "lowlightena", "bokehus", and "megapixelum". All of these words are probably to highlight the camera capability of the upcoming Pixel smartphone.

The Pixel 4a is an important phone for Google because of the product's reach. It has updated the account's name on Twitter and Facebook to 'The Google RTing, Meme Loving, Info Sharing Stream' for fun. We will have to wait and see just what arrives on August 3 to be sure.

In India, the Pixel 4a will likely take on the recently launched OnePlus Nord, a phone that has been called by some reviewers as the phone that Google should have made. If you remember, the Pixel 4 was not launched due to certain issues with the Soli radar. There's a small black hole on the top left of the header indicative of a hole-punch display on the Pixel 4a.

Google Pixel 4a was supposed to be launched at the Google I/O event, but with repeated delays, the launch event was never materialized.

Previous reports have said this device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM, and it will have 128GB of internal storage. The camera is yet again going to be a single 12-megapixel but considering how well Google's camera software is, the performance could be great.
