Fauci, Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the assistant secretary for health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Adm. Brett Giroir, addressed concerns about vaccine development, the inability to contain the virus in the U.S., and more at the hearing.
The congressman then proceeded to dramatically shake a thick stack of supposed Covid-19 guidelines, issued by Trump's administration, saying that if all state governors acted on those "thousands more" would have been alive.
"So this is why I keep coming back for the overall social [well-being] of individuals, is let's all work together and find out how we can find common ground to get these schools open in a way that people are comfortable and their safe".
A sigh of relief came at Dr. Fauci's optimism when Rep. Maloney (D-NY) questioned if it's "dreaming" to believe if a vaccine will be available next year.
"I said crowds", said Fauci. "I don't think that we'll have everybody getting it immediately in the beginning".

Officials testifying with Fauci at a contentious House hearing on Friday acknowledged that the USA remains unable to deliver all COVID-19 test results within two or three days, and they jointly pleaded with Americans to comply with basic precautions such as wearing masks, avoiding crowds, and washing their hands frequently. Jordan compared such a move to closing houses of worship and businesses during shutdowns and suggested Fauci unequally judged certain activities over others as worthy of government intervention.
"Some were followed very carefully and some were not". Jordan asked. "And if you stood right outside of that same business and protested you wouldn't get arrested?" "You should stay away from crowds, no matter where the crowds are".
"I just have to go with the data", he said.
President Donald Trump, some Republicans in Congress and several conservative media commentators have consistently pushed for the drug's use, many of them widely sharing a video this week extolling its virtues that was produced for the web with funding from the group Tea Party Patriots Action.
"Everybody is doing a good job".
Fauci, who heads the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in a functional sense, about 50 percent of America closed down during the weeks-long, near-nationwide lockdowns that started in many areas in March. This testing, and what we have so quickly done, is used as a Fake News weapon.
Currently, India is testing its first indigenous vaccine (Covaxin) for COVID-19 infection. "Big progress being made!"
Asked if it's possible to deliver coronavirus test results to patients within 48 to 72 hours, Giroir acknowledged "it is not a possible benchmark we can achieve today given the demand and supply".
