Johns Hopkins moves up to No. 9 in 'U.S

UB dropped nine spots in the annual U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings released Monday. The 2021 rankings - released Sunday night - list a total of 389 schools.

St. Louis University ranked 103rd overall tied with eight other schools, coming in at 48th for schools with the best value and 68th among best colleges for veterans. This puts NU one spot above Duke University and one below the University of Pennsylvania.

"We certainly appreciate recognition of Princeton's commitment to contributing to the world through teaching and research of unsurpassed quality", Deputy University Spokesperson Michael Hotchkiss wrote to The Daily Princetonian. The data used in the 2021 rankings pertain to student and faculty cohorts that predate the pandemic.

Earlier this summer, UM once again topped the list of top USA public universities, according to the QS World University Rankings for 2020-21.

Pell Grant-eligible students now constitute around 24 percent of entering classes at the University. Central Michigan University and Wayne State University both came in tied at No. 249.

The private university of almost 8,000 undergraduate students also ranked 20th among schools with the best value - tuition and fees are $57,386 - and tied seven other schools as the 50th-most innovative, according to the rankings.

This marks just the second time in the 36 years U.S. News has published its rankings that Hopkins has been included inside the top 10.

U.S. News compiles its data from its own surveys and third-party reporting.

In the list of "2020 Academic Programs to Look For", Pepperdine ranked number 15 in the Study Abroad category, which recognizes institutions that offer programs that "involve substantial academic work and considerable interaction between the student and the culture". It ranked 112th among schools with the best value. The ranking places UM as the highest-ranked university in Mississippi. Previously, colleges that did not require standardized tests, such as the SAT and ACT, were ineligible for consideration.

Those include graduation and retention rates, social mobility, graduation rate performance, undergraduate academic reputation, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, average alumni giving rate and graduate indebtedness.

"Select the one you like among those with a high four-year graduation rate", she advised.
