In 2016, Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton each spent September 11 in NY and each visited the ground zero memorial in lower Manhattan.
"He has been in direct contact with the Biden team and has urged them to put more emphasis on how they will raise wages, create millions of good paying jobs, lower the cost of prescription drugs and expand health care", said Faiz Shakir, Sanders' former campaign manager. "And this year, we mark the anniversary of 9/11 in the midst of another crisis that compels us to summon the best of the American people in the face of unconscionable, inconceivable loss - a crisis that has already taken almost 200,000 Americans, testing our resolve and character with each passing day".
Friday marks the 19th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks on the United States.
Jill Biden, traveled to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where a hijacked plane - Flight 93 - crashed into a field after passengers fought back, killing everyone on board.
"This is no time for Donald Trump's record of hysteria xenophobia [sic], hysterical xenophobia, and fear-mongering to lead the way instead of science", Biden said.
Trump did not attend the NY event.
But Biden's mere presence attracted attention at an event broadcast live on main USA television networks and punctuated by minutes of silence, the first one at 8:46 am (1246 GMT), the time the first plane hit one of the Twin Towers.
"The senator has identified several specific changes he'd like to see", the Post reported, "saying Biden should talk more about healthcare and about his economic plans, and should campaign more with figures popular among young liberals, such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.)".
Some Democrats are concerned about possible Trump gains in Nevada, with the president showing increasing support from Latinos and non-college educated white voters, two important constituencies in the state.
About 3,000 people died after four planes were hijacked.
In a prepared statement issued after his visit to New York, Biden said 19 years ago "our nation was tested by an unspeakable act of cowardice and hate".
"I remember all my friends that I lost", Biden said when asked what the day means for him.
"On that day, more than 400 first responders gave their lives - including 23 New York City police officers, 37 Port Authority workers, and 343 New York City firefighters", Trump said.
Though the state has significantly expanded access to mail-in voting this year amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the poll found that the largest share of respondents actually plan to vote early in-person before Election Day, which has always been the most popular method of voting among Nevadans.
Trump visited Shanksville for the 9/11 anniversary in 2018, and has attended memorial ceremonies at the Pentagon. "I don't know about you, but for me that is a heartbreak and a loss that we will remember forever", Jackson said before ringing the bell, a gift from the city of London that has been rung on every anniversary since 2002. "We stand together, understanding we are all in this together".
