Tottenham boss Mourinho coy on Bale selection: Most important is happiness

Gareth Bale could make his second debut for Tottenham against West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday following his return to Spurs from Real Madrid.

Spurs host London rivals West Ham on Sunday in a league fixture and will be looking to build on their 6-1 demolition of Manchester United before the global break, which indicated they are a team moving in the right direction this season. At some point, Gareth Bale would be back at Tottenham.

Kane then capped off a scintillating opening act when he doubled his tally just beyond the quarter-hour mark, rising to meet Sergio Reguilon's exquisite cross at the right post and head home.

"He needs football, he needs to feel a top player again".

"We care as much about him as he cares about Tottenham, and we are going to make the best decision for him and for the team".

However, he has had little game time over the past year as he fell down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane at Madrid.

"Of course he wants to play". He's wanted to play since the day he arrived, but it wasn't possible.

"It's a physical thing".

The 31-year-old arrived with a knee problem and has been working his way back to full fitness after missing the latest worldwide break with Wales.

"When he reaches his continuity and when he reaches his normal intensity and dynamic, I think he can be the player people saw being decisive when he went to Real Madrid, in a very similar position".

"Probably he plays Sunday, if he doesn't he will on Thursday, but he's there, he's very, very close".

The striker was on song for Jose Mourinho's side in the opening exchanges against the Hammers, putting the spectre of an indifferent worldwide break to rest in emphatic form as he had a hand in all three goals for the hosts.

The Brazilian was one of six new arrivals along with Bale, Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Matt Doherty and Joe Hart.

"Mr. Levy showed once more than when he wants, when he is really involved, he is a genius in the way he makes deals happen and I can only publicly thank them for what they gave to the team".

"In such a hard period, the club made an incredible effort".

The former Arsenal manager has released a book, but Mourinho does not feature after the two clashed on several occasions and Wenger won just two of 19 meetings against the Portuguese. I can feel even in the players this feeling I love.
