Nanoleaf Launches New HomeKit-Enabled Shapes Triangle and Mini Triangle Lighting Panels

Nanoleaf launches HomeKit Shapes Triangles and Mini Triangles smart lights

Nanoleaf today announced the latest fixtures in its Shapes lighting panel range, introducing the Shapes Triangles and Shapes Mini Triangles that are compatible with each other, as well as the Nanoleaf Hexagon Panels launched earlier this year were. "Smart lighting is about pushing the boundaries of possibility and that is exactly what we wanted to offer with our Shapes Line", says Gimmy Chu, CEO and Co-Founder of Nanoleaf. These new panels are an upgrade over the original and are not compatible with the original triangles. Nanoleaf says that the new Triangles have feature slightly rounded and smaller corners.

Let's explain. The Nanoleaf Shapes - Triangles, to give them their proper name, may look similar to the company's original triangular light panels, but they come with a crucial distinction.

Back at CES the Canadian company showed off the (what it was calling them at the time) Hexagon Unified Light Panels. For the first time, you can combine different Shapes of various sizes to create new designs.

In addition to the updated app, the company has announced that it will release a series of new smart light bulbs and light strips in November, under the Nanoleaf Essentials line.

"Nanoleaf's vision for the Shapes Line is to give users the complete design freedom to create their most personal lighting experience yet. Bringing together smart technology and thoughtful design, the Shapes Line leads the Smart Decor category for a lighting experience that truly has no limits".

The mini triangles can be used alone and are sold in a standalone set.

The new lights also support Adaptive Lighting, which automatically adjusts color temperature throughout the day, and each support up to 16 million colors and shades of white. Then there is the Mini Triangles Smart Kit that includes 5 mini triangle light panels.

Nanoleaf's got a number of options for controlling their lights as well - of course, you can use their app or connect them up with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Samsung SmartThings and even IFTTT. Nanoleaf offers a LayoutDetect function that optimizes the lighting of the panels, as well as preprogrammed scenes that reflect nature or paint the room in a rainbow of light. They also offer the same great features that the Shapes Hexagons include like Rhythm Music Sync, Screen Mirror, and are touch-enabled.

Priced from £119.99 for the bigger Triangles and £89.99 for the Mini Triangles, the Nanoleaf Shapes - Triangles are available from the Nanoleaf store. For Triangles, your Starter Pack will contain seven panels, a Controller, power supply and everything you need to mount them on your walls, while the Expansion Pack will get you three additional panels.

Unlike past Nanoleaf products, the panels in the Shape line connect using a rigid connector that snaps into place.
