Father warns Juve about Haaland's future

Papa Haaland sows doubt

The victor of the Golden Boy award for the 19/20 season has been announced... and it is none other than Norwegian wonderkid Erling Braut Haaland.

The prize, presented by Italian newspaper Tuttosport and won by Joao Felix previous year, is given to the best player aged 21 or under from a top-tier league in Europe.

Alf-Inge admits it is "only logical" that the forward will be linked with "big clubs" given his goalscoring exploits since bursting onto the scene, though says a move is not at the forefront of the player's mind as he seeks to continue his development in the Bundesliga with Dortmund. The striker fended off competition from the likes of Alphonso Davies, Ansu Fati, Mason Greenwood and teammate Jadon Sancho to clinch the coveted award offered by Italian newspaper Tuttosport.

He's continued the fine form he previously showed at Red Bull Salzburg, where he managed 29 goals in 27 games before his big move to Germany.

He scored a hat trick on his Champions League debut as well as goals in each of his first five outings and became the competition's highest-scoring teenager in a single season.

The Norwegian has joined an elite list of company to win the Golden Boy award.

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix won the award previous year.

The 20-year-old has found the back of the net four times through three Champions League fixtures in 2020-21, taking his tally to 11 goals from 11 matches across all competitions. At the moment it is not in my son or in my head that another club will compete for him. "We signed a long contract with Dortmund" Haaland's father said in a recent interview.

"You never know what can happen [in the future]". We don't want to look any further yet. We haven't talked about that step yet. I think he would like to win some trophies with Dortmund. Erling can still achieve a lot in Germany and make great progress.

Haaland father: Sometimes I think he wants and can assert himself in all leagues.

"He just wants to be a better player and doesn't look too far ahead".
