KU postpones Saturday football game against Texas

Texas-Kansas

Amid injuries, COVID-19 concerns, Saturday's game between Kansas and Texas moved to Dec. 12

That streak of good fortune ran out on Wednesday, though, as KU's athletic department announced there will be no football played in David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

The Kansas football game vs. Texas on Saturday, Nov. 21 will be postponed to December 12 due to KU's inability to meet the minimum position requirements established by the Big 12 Conference.

Fifteen FBS football games were postponed or canceled because of coronavirus last week, which included Missouri's home game against Georgia.

Texas-Kansas was just the second Big 12 conference game to be postponed this season and was rescheduled for December 12.

In the last 10 days, the school says it has counted 825 COVID-19 tests, with five coming back positive.

Iowa State (5-1) and Oklahoma State (4-1) now sit atop the Big 12 standings.

"The position group affected has a combination of injuries and contact tracing", Kansas said in a release.

Overall, 14 out of 62 games involving Bowl Subdivision teams scheduled for this week have been called off.

Coming off their third bye week of the pandemic-altered 10-game season, the Jayhawks (0-7 overall, 0-6 Big 12) now will go three weeks between games, with their next date on the schedule coming November 28 at home versus TCU. The Longhorns are next scheduled to play on Friday, Nov. 27 at home against the 17th-ranked Iowa State Cyclones.
