The Los Angeles Lakers are finalizing a deal with free agent center Marc Gasol, Adrian Wojnarowski of EPSN reports. Cleveland is sending Jordan Bell and Alfonzo McKinnie to the Lakers in the deal, sources said.

Gasol is nearing the end of his career and there was a thought that he would finish it back where it began in Spain, although this indicates he will give it a go in the National Basketball Association with the Lakers for at least two more seasons. SNY NBA insider Ian Begley reported earlier Sunday that the Knicks were a potential landing spot for McGee, with the Lakers' pursuit of Gasol in mind.

Gasol has spent the past two seasons with the Toronto Raptors and was part of their 2019 championship team.

Gasol was drafted by the Lakers in 2007, but had his rights traded to Memphis for his brother, Pau, before he ever played an National Basketball Association game. As the defending champions, the stakes are fairly high for the Los Angeles Lakers, who have already made some big moves involving players like Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell. The Raptors allowed a measly 98.9 points per 100 possessions when the Spaniard was on the court last season.

This past season with the Lakers, his second year with the Western Conference power, McGee started 68 games during the regular season, averaging 6.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.
