And the singer-songwriter, 75, recently revealed that she turned down TWO opportunities to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom from former President Donald Trump's administration.

The music legend has now been contacted by President Joe Biden about the award but she is likely to turn it down for the third time.

"Now I feel like if I take it, I'll be doing politics, so I'm not sure", Parton said. It'd be nice but I'm not sure that I even deserve it.

The non-profit organization first started out as a means of awarding scholarships to high school students, but has since evolved into much more. She also has donated to literacy programs via Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

Parton donated $1 million to fund coronavirus research at Vanderbilt University, and the money was used to help develop the Moderna vaccine.

Unlike many celebrities who have embraced far-left politics, Dolly Parton has mostly avoided taking political stances.

Last fall, former President Barack Obama told Stephen Colbert that he was "shocked" Dolly Parton hadn't gotten a Presidential Medal of Freedom during his time in office. I'm surprised, she deserves one, ' he continued.

Not for the awards: 'But I don't work for those awards.

But it seems the 46th president, too, could come up short in an effort to honor her, as Parton explained she might not actually want the Medal of Freedom at all. But Parton says she'd be hesitant to accept a possible third offer.

The award was established to recognize individuals who have made an "especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, or world peace, or cultural or other significant public or private endeavors".

If Parton does accept the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Biden, it certainly will make it look like she's letting her political leanings be known, given the fact that she refused the honor twice from Trump.
