Rapper Silento has been arrested and charged with the murder of his cousin.

The cops said Rooks was found shot dead on January 21 and that Silento was now sat in county jail.

Silento's publicist has released a statement following the rapper's arrest on murder charges.

According to the DeKalb County Police Department, the 23-year-old born Richard "Ricky" Lamar Hawk, was taken into custody on Monday (Feb. 1).

Silento rose to fame in 2015 with his debut single Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae).

On Jan. 21, police responded to reports of shots being fired at around 3.30 a.m.at a local intersection. Videos captured at least one gunshot and show several vehicles fleeing the scene.

The 23-year-old rapper born Richard Lamar Hawk was arrested earlier this week on suspicion that he murdered his cousin Frederick Rooks on January 21 in Panthersville, GA. Detectives are said to be investigating a potential motive for the killing. The comment's section is filled with fans wanting to know more about the death of his cousin.

Hawk was arrested once again on 23 October after being caught driving at 143mph.

He's been releasing music ever since - and his most recent release, Swish, was released on 28 January 2021.

Hawk eventually released his first album, Fresh Outta High School in August 2018.
