Police in Maryland are " on scene responding to an active shooter" in the city of Frederick on Tuesday morning, according to a tweet from city police.

Police had been called to the first scene, about a 4-mile drive east of Fort Detrick, around 8:20 a.m., Lando said. They said he was the only shooter involved and there is no ongoing threat to the public. "There are two victims with status unknown". Police said that there were two victims and that "one suspect is down". He could not say whether the shooting was inside or outside.

The shooting happened at an address where a concrete business is located and about four miles from Fort Detrick.

Shortly thereafter, police learned that the suspected gunman, a 38-year-old male, "traveled to the Fort Detrick military base" and was shot by "personnel on the base".

The Navy did not release further details.

"We have two different scenes".

Both men who were shot in Frederick were flown by helicopter to the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore and are in critical condition at the facility's Shock Trauma Center, Lando said.

'One of the victims who was wounded entered our facility looking for help and we were able to assist and call the authorities, ' said Mutschler, who is based in NY.
