Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are speaking out for the first time since welcoming their baby girl.
This was followed by "A MESSAGE OF THANKS FROM THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF SUSSEX", that read: "On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili".
The couple issued a statement along with the announcement on Sunday, writing, "She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe".
"Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family".
Her first name, Lilibet, is a nod to the Queen's nickname. According to a report in US Weekly, a source told the news portal that Prince William and Duchess Kate were "informed about the birth and have sent Lilibet a gift". Harry and Meghan's decision to name their daughter after the 95-year-old monarch came less than two months after the death of her husband Prince Philip, the royal family's patriarchal figure.
She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz.
Both mother and child are healthy and well, the pair said in a statement.
Like her two-year-old brother Archie, Lili will use the surname Mountbatten-Windsor.
Harry and Meghan's departure from royal duties began in March 2020 over what they described as the intrusions and racist attitudes of the British media toward the duchess.
As the eldest son of the heir apparent, Prince Charles, Prince William's children - George, Charlotte and Louis - were all given titles unlike their cousin Archie, who is the child of Charles' younger son, Prince Harry.
Harry's relations with his family have reportedly deteriorated after his criticism of royal family members including his father Prince Charles.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced the birth of their second child, a baby girl.
Meghan had previously disclosed that she suffered a miscarriage last summer in a moving opinion piece for the New York Times.
"Grateful, having any child, any one or a two would have been unbelievable, but to have a boy and then a girl. now we've got our family and we've got four of us", proud dad Harry stated.
The couple revealed that they were having a girl in their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey. "To have any child, any one or any two, would have been awesome, but to have a boy and then a girl, I mean, what more can you ask for?" We've got you covered below!
The couple told Winfrey they are not planning to have more children, saying to Winfrey, "Two is it".
