Statement came out as White House Press Secretary was telling reporters that the impact of the exec order has been overblown and exaggerated by media and protesters, and comparing Trump's move to one made by Obama in 2011.

Politico reports that it is Obama's first public statement since leaving office. He blamed the media for "falsely reporting" the details of the executive order he signed on Friday.

Trump's ban (and it is a ban, regardless of his argument to the contrary) is broad-ranging, and includes not just those seeking refugee status but even tourists from seven countries in the Middle East.

"Although Customs and Border Protection services are strictly federal and operate outside the jurisdiction of all USA airports, including SFO, we have requested a full briefing from this agency to ensure our customers remain the top priority".

When a TMZ reporter asked Conway about the Iranian director nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars, Conway responded "if people have a reason to be here then they'll be here". In today's inauguration ceremony Donald J. Trump becomes the 45th president of the United States.

One Iraqi who had aided American troops was assassinated before his refugee application could be processed, because of the immigration delays, two USA officials said.

"The United States should resume issuing visas to all these countries only after a review of these policies is completed, and only if the countries comply with supplying the information necessary to allow complete vetting".

Trump first reacted to the outcry Sunday morning via Twitter.

It has also emerged Democrat favourite and husband of Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, took a tough stance against immigration, deporting the highest number on record in 2000 when 1,864,343 aliens were booted out, according to the US Center for Immigration studies.

A federal judge in NY has already blocked the deportation of those who were detained at JFK over the weekend, and other cities may be soon to follow.

Mr Trump's executive order has banned migrants from seven Muslim countries including Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Iran, and Iraq from coming to the United States for the next 90 days. These countries were identified by the Obama Administration due to their links to terrorist recruitment activities, not any faith.

On how the order might impact Syrian refugees, who are fleeing one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent memory, Conway deflected, kicking blame to Obama.
